Prompt Lab turns a short scene description and a camera move into a director prompt that image-to-video apps understand. The prompt is built in your browser as you type. You can also generate a non-explicit start frame to try in an app that animates images.

How to use it

  1. Describe a fictional adult character and setting in one or two sentences. Name the clothing, place and light; leave out real names.
  2. Pick a motion preset and an aspect ratio. Use 9:16 for phone feeds and 16:9 for widescreen.
  3. Choose the motion intensity. Start with medium; strong moves make identity drift more likely.
  4. Copy the prompt into the app you use. If the app animates an image, generate a start frame first or use one you made in the app.

The motion presets

Preset What the camera does Good for
Slow push-in Moves slowly toward the subject with a shallow depth of field. A safe first test of any app. Small motion keeps the face stable.
Orbit 180° Circles half way around the subject at chest height. Showing an outfit or a room. Hard for identity, so expect drift.
Hair & cloth wind The subject holds still while hair and fabric move. Making a portrait feel alive without moving the face.
Dance loop A rhythmic sway with the feet planted that loops cleanly. Short looping clips for feeds.
Handheld cinematic Light drift and micro-shake with a 35 mm lens look. A film feel for medium shots.
Face-lock portrait A slow blink and a head turn under 15 degrees. Checking how well an app keeps the same face.

Why the prompt is built this way

Image-to-video models work best when the prompt separates what is in the frame from how the camera moves. Each prompt has five lines: the subject, a description of frame 1, the camera and motion, the format, and a consistency rule. Our guide to camera-motion prompts explains each line and how to adjust it.

What happens to your text

  • The prompt is assembled in your browser. Typing sends nothing to us.
  • “Generate start frame” sends your description and settings to our server and our image provider to create one non-explicit image. We do not store the text or the image. See our privacy policy.
  • Start frames are limited per visitor each day so the free tool stays available.

Why there is no photo upload

A free tool that animates any uploaded photo can be used to make intimate fakes of real people. That harms people and is illegal in many places. Prompt Lab works with fictional adults described in text, and refuses descriptions that point to a real person or to anyone under 18. Read our consent and safety policy.

FAQ

Does Prompt Lab make the video?

No. It writes the prompt and, if you want, a start frame. You make the clip in an image-to-video app. Our comparison of apps shows what each one documents.

Why is my start frame not explicit?

Start frames here are always non-explicit by design. The app you animate in applies its own content rules.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no payment.
